A Breckenridge Colorado Summer Trip

Posted On: 06/13/2019

If you believe Breckenridge is just a winter destination, then think again! Book your travel and pack your bags because summertime in Breck holds adventures with mountain views and cool mountain air.

Getting to Breckenridge from Denver International Airport is easiest with Epic Mountain Express on either a shared shuttle or private vehicle with Premier Mountain Express. Once you arrive, you’ll find it’s easy to get around without a car with free in-town transportation including a free bus system, hotel shuttles and walking, or around town uber and lyft options. Ride sharing fits with the Town of Breckenridge’s recent adoption of four strategic goals which include having fewer cars on the roads and making Breckenridge a leader in mountain environmentalism. The goal is to reduce vehicles by 10% in the next 3-5 years so that quality of life is maintained and that the environmental impacts are minimized.

Once in Breckenridge, the list of summer activities is long and diverse, from a scenic and relaxing chairlift ride to heart-pounding adventures. So plan and book in advance the Breck activities you don’t want to miss out on. Expect to be spending as much time outside as possible enjoying the beauty of Breckenridge but keep in mind that every 3,000 feet of altitude gained UV levels increase by 12%, so wear sunscreen and drink lots of water to remain hydrated!

Epic Discovery in Breckenridge is located at Peak 8 Base Camp and set to open on June 14. You can soar down the mountain on the Gold Runner Coaster or the Alpine Slide, test your balance at the Alpineer Challenge course, climb, tube and fly! With multiple ticket packages available, you can choose to try a few activities or spend an entire day on the rides. The all-day adventure pass is available to purchase in advance online lowering the ticket price, and if you are a 2019-2020 Epic Passholder you can save an additional 10%.

Looking to take things in at a slower pace? Explore Breckenridge’s high alpine with a scenic chairlift ride and a hike while enjoying the mountain views and wildflowers. Or take a trip to Breckenridge Stables for a leisurely horseback ride between Peaks 9 and 10 on the Ten Mile range above Breckenridge. Breckenridge is always buzzing with art, music and events, and to increase your experience you can plan your vacation around town festivals. June brings the Gold Panning Championships, July offers the Summer Beer Festival or the Food and Wine Festival or come in August for the International Festival of Arts or Breckenridge Hogfest: Bacon and Bourbon. Every Sunday Main Street turns into a farmers market, where you can buy local produce, art and goods. The Breckenridge Arts District is a walkable hub of creativity, where you can engage in viewing as well as making art. Check out BreckCreate.org for workshops, exhibits, “Date Nights”, music, and of course, the infamous Breckenridge Troll, formally known as Isak Heartstone.

No matter how you decide to spend your Breckenridge summer vacation, if you are coming in from a distance and flying into Denver International Airport, book an airport shuttle with Epic Mountain Express. Once in town, you’ll discover how easy it is to get around town without a car. For private charters for groups or car service, see our services from Premier Mountain Express.
